We had a baseball - softball doubleheader on the Big-Z Friday. The Marquette Explorers routed the Nokomis Redskins 12-2 in Prairie State Conference baseball to open our twinbill. John Hughes picked up the win on the mound and went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI at the plate in the victory. Marquette improved to 11-7 with the win.

Game two of the presentation took us to Alton High School where the Alton Lady Redbirds beat the Civic Memorial Lady Eagles 8-1 in non-conference softball action.  C.M. led after the first inning but Alton scored in four consecutive innings to earn the victory. Haley Longo and Morgan Tipsword each knocked in a pair of runs while Jordyn Roady pitched four innings to pick up the win for Alton, who improves to 11-7 this season. Maddie Hall drove in the only run for C.M, who falls to 3-13 with the loss.
