The Class 3A Salem baseball sectional had two extra inning games Wednesday as the Civic Memorial Eagles and Mascoutah Indians advanced to the sectional title game on Saturday with victories.

Eagles senior Jaxsen Helmkamp was the hero again Wednesday with a bases-loaded game-winning RBI-single in the walk-off win in the 9th inning.  (He also had the GW-RBI single to win the Columbia regional championship game last Saturday against the Waterloo Bulldogs)

*Corey Price had an RBI-double in the 5th inning for his 50th RBI of the season.

Mt. Vernon ends the year at 26-and-10.




The Eagles will now meet the Mascoutah Indians in the sectional title game in Salem Saturday (11-am).  Mascoutah (25-10) edged the host Salem Wildcats, 2-1 in 10-innings Wednesday night.
