The Alton Redbirds have a new head football for the upcoming 2015 fall season.  It’s defensive coordinator Eric Dickerson.

The 36-year old Dickerson has been on the Redbirds football staff for the past 7 years running the defense.

He has also been an assistant coach for the Marquette Explorers and EA/WR Oilers over the last 13 years.

Dickerson has been the head track coach for the past four years as well.  He will coach track again in the 2015 spring season.

He takes over for Jeff Alderman who resigned the position after the 2014 football season.  Alderman was the Alton head coach for three years – the Redbirds went 5-4 in 20-14.  Alderman remains the athletic director at Alton High School.
