The St. Louis Blues will take on the Vancouver Canucks in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Blues finished the qualifying round 0-2-1, after falling to the Dallas Stars on Sunday 2-1 in an overtime shootout.
The Blues scored first in the first period, Robert Thomas scored on the first shot of the game. Jake Allen was in the net for St. Louis and stopped 18 of the 19 shots from the Stars, with the lone goal coming from Joe Pavelski in the 3rd period with 31.4 seconds left in regulation.
Denis Gurianov scored the lone goal in the shootout for either team, pushing Dallas to the win and the #3 seed in the West. The Blues, who were the top team in the West before the season was haulted, is now the #4 seed after round robin play.
The Blues will open the playoffs Wednesday night against Vancouver...and those games will be played in Edmonton.
