Mike Arbuthnot has resigned as girls basketball head coach at Highland High School.  He has been the Lady Bulldogs head coach the last 5 seasons - beginning his tenure there in the 2012-13 season.

He is also retiring from teaching at Roxana High School this spring after more than 30 years at the school where he has coached Shells girls basketball, softball and baseball.

While coaching girls basketball at Highland the last 5 years - Arbuthnot's Lady Bulldogs won 4 MVC titles, won back to back regional titles in '16 and '17, and placed 3rd at the Class 3A state tournament 2 years ago.  That 2016 squad went 31-and-5 - the most wins in school history.  After going 29-and-4 last year (2017), the Highland girls team went 19-and-11 this past season (2018).
