Alton Post 126 stayed alive with a victory Wednesday in the American Legion Fifth Division baseball tournament. Alton crushed Murphsyboro Post 127, 18-1 in a seven inning game yesterday (due to the 10-run rule).
Alton used a 19-hit attack to stay alive – scoring in all seven innings on Wednesday. Post 126 blasted four home runs in the victory: one each for Jason Roberts, Ron Wisnasky, Austin Stilts, and Ryan Gvillo.
Roberts – 3-4 (hr) 4 rbi’s
Wisnasky – 4-5 (hr) 2 rbi’s
Gvillo – 2-5 (hr) 2 rbi’s
Stilts – 3-4 (hr) 3 rbi’s
Nick Droste added two hits and two rbi’s while starting pitcher Blake Novack went the distance to pick up the win on his 19th birthday.
