Game one of our Friday night double header took us to Public School Stadium where the Alton Redbirds were set to face the Edwardsville Tigers in Southwestern Conference action.
Alton spotted Edwardsville a 21-0 lead and managed just one touchdown before the halftime whistle blew. The Tigers built on their 21-7 lead in the second half, as quarterback Will Collins picked up right where he left off.

Collins was the standout player of the night, as he finished the game with 289 yards passing and two touchdowns. Alton did score again in the second half, but the Tigers proved to be too much in the end, as they won the game 49-13 at Public School Stadium. Alton falls to 1-4 on the season and will look to bounce back on the road next week as they face Belleville East.
The second game of our double header brought us the renewal of an old rivalry bewteen the Marquette Explorers and East Alton-Wood River Oilers. Marquette jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, thanks in part to some great speical teams play from Keshon Young.

The Explorers took a 20-6 lead before the half, but the Oilers wouldn't go quietly as both offenses went into full gear coming out of the break. East Alton-Wood River's Aaron Ragusa kept his team in the game, connecting with Kyle Kearby for multiple touchdown scores.
