The Alton Redbirds have a new athletic director and head football coach in place for the 2012-2013 school year.  It’s 53-year old Jeff Alderman.  Alderman is a former football coach with the Southwestern Piasa Birds.  He has been in the Dunlap School District since leaving Southwestern back in 1998.

He coached Piasa Birds football for five seasons – going 35-and-23.  He spent 10 seasons coaching football at Dunlap where he compiled a record of 53-and-43 before resigning that position back in 2008.  (but he remained in the Dunlap school district)

He is currently the Assistant Principal at Dunlap Middle School.

Alderman will replace Dwight Tungett as the Redbirds’ football coach and Scott Harper as the Alton A.D.
