Private Land Conservation Programs
4/3/2018 -
More than 95% of land in Illinois is held privately. To address environmental degradation in both terrestrial and aquatic systems, private-land conservation programs are a necessary component of local and national conservation issues. Please join NGRREC's conservation program manager, Dr. Justin Shew, as he showcases private-land conservation programs he supports. This Neighbor Nights event will highlight NGRREC's Land Conservation Specialist Program and provided an overview of U.S. Farm Bill conservation programs.

This month's classroom display will feature information regarding the federal Farm Service Agency's (FSA) popular Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service's (NRCS) Wetland Reserve Easement (WRE) program.

Have you been to NGRREC's facility recently? Are you curious about the many ways in which the organization works on the river? Would you like to meet some of the staff and have the opportunity to ask questions and take a look around? If so, join NGRREC for this offering, Neighbor Nights @NGRREC.

Neighbor Nights will take place on the first Tuesday of every month, from 5:30-8 p.m., NGRREC will be open for you to come and go as you please. Feel free to explore our lobby, our native landscaping and/or take a stroll up to our green roof. A tour of the entire building will take place at 6 p.m., and a short presentation on a different river project each month with start at 7 p.m. Attend one or both of these, or just drop by for a bit!
