1/20/2018 -
We’re celebrating 50 years in our home, the beautiful Powell Hall! We have a whole day dedicated to celebrate the anniversary on Saturday, January 20, 2018 — complete with free activities from 11:00am-2:30pm and a beloved movie to cap off the day!

11:00am - 11:45am | Lecture in Partnership with the Missouri History Museum Join Historian Andrew Wanko for a trip down memory lane. Learn the history behind the St. Louis Theatre in the 1920s to the transition to our beloved Powell Hall in the Grand Center Arts District in 1968.

11:45am - 1:15pm | Instrument Petting Zoo and Powell Hall Tours Have you ever been curious about an instrument and wanted to learn how to play it? Visit our Instrument Petting Zoo for a hands-on experience with different instruments that anyone of all ages can try! During this time, we will offer tours of Powell Hall to give you the chance to explore and learn fun facts about areas within the building that you've never ventured to before.

1:30pm - 2:30pm | Youth Orchestra Open Rehearsal Get a behind-the-scenes look of rehearsals with the Youth Orchestra! Watch as Youth Orchestra Music Director Gemma New guides the orchestra while they rehearse for an upcoming concert.

7:00pm | The Sound of Music To cap off the day of activities, join us for a screening of The Sound of Music, the last film shown in the St. Louis Theatre before the historic building was transformed to Powell Hall. We're keeping with tradition and bringing back the von Trapp family to celebrate! Join us in the auditorium for the film The Sound of Music on the big screen. Admission is $5.*
