November 2017
City of the Sun 5K Trail Run
11/5/2017 -
This Trail run traverses the grounds of Cahokia Mounds, a US National Historic Landmark and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The race will begin in front of the Interpretive Center and travel through cultural and natural portions of the site. The course is on flat terrain, however it will be uneaven at portions. Various surfaces include pavement, wooded area with exposed roots, grass field with some unevenness, and gravel prepared trail. Due to the narrowness of some of the trail areas, we ask that you do not bring dogs unless you are walking. There will also be a 1-mile walk available. If you register for the 1-mile walk, you must walk the entire time since this is an award race. The funds raised for this event will be used by the Society to further their mission of preservation and interpretation at Cahokia Mounds. The museum society funds all outreach and educational events, research, and land acquisition projects at Cahokia Mound. The race will be capped at 250 so register soon to reserve your spot. For more information, call Lori at 618-344-7316. Awards will be given to Overall Male and Female, 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each division. Divisions are: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and up for male and female. Awards will also be given to the top 5 walkers.
