Want a Tax Deduction? Recycle Your Unused Health Equipment at Donation Drive Saturday, October 8

St. Louis HELP is conducting the donation drive at 14 locations in St. Louis metro area

St. Louis, Missouri…The St. Louis Health Equipment Lending Program (St. Louis HELP) will accept donations of new and used home medical devices on Saturday, October 8, 2016  from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14 different locations in metro St. Louis and southwestern Illinois.Equipment donors will receive a tax deduction.

St. Louis HELP collects, cleans and revitalizes used home health equipment for free loans to people suffering from accidents, illness or disability. Please see the website http://www.stlhelp.org.

Virtually every type of home medical device?—?manual and electric wheelchairs; scooters; walkers, crutches, canes; hospital beds; portable commodes; elevated toilet seats; lift chairs?—?and more?—?is accepted by St. Louis HELP, which restores the equipment at its warehouse in St. Louis County. Donated items that cannot be used are recycled by St. Louis HELP.

“We accept donations of manual and power wheelchairs, electric hospital beds, shower chairs, canes/crutches/walkers, grab bars, elevated toilet seats, portable commodes, lift chairs, seat cushions, back supports, folding ramps — every type of item except oxygen and medications,” said Laura Cannon-Singer, founder and executive director of the not-for-profit organization.

St. Louis HELP’s October 8 equipment drive will be occur at 14 designated Walgreen’s parking lots in the metro area. They include:

St. Louis HELP conducts two home health equipment drives annually, and also accepts equipment donations by appointment all year.

Since 2008 St. Louis HELP has loaned more than 50,000 home health items?—?for free?—?to people suffering from accidents, disabilities, and illnesses or for any reason.

The equipment drive is supported by St. Louis County, including a grant from the Saint Louis County Department of Public Health utilizing County landfill surcharge funds.

St. Louis HELP seeks additional volunteers to assist as check-in helpers and equipment unloaders at the event on Saturday, October 8. You can choose to volunteer at any one of the 14 drop-off locations in greater St. Louis. Volunteers can assist for one or more hours.
