A Theatrical Production in Two Acts focusing on Mental Health

St. Louis, Missouri…The Slaying Dragons Theatre Company and the Independence Center Players will present Mind Shattering, a theatrical production in two acts exploring causes and events that prompt thoughts and emotions to break from reality, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Mind Shatteringwill be presented onFriday, September 30, 2016 at 7:00.p.m. and also on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the performing arts theatre at KTK Productions located in The Southampton Church, 4716 Macklind Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63109.

Mind Shattering features a cast of 10 actors directed by Helene Meyer, Slaying Dragons’ founder and creative director.

Slaying Dragons is a 501 (3)c not-for-profit organization dedicated to “slaying” the negative stigma associated with mental illness by bringing awareness to mental health issues and to survivors of depression and other disorders through speaking engagements, workshops, lectures and theatrical performances.

For more than five years, Slaying Dragons has worked independently and with various community partners to present a wide range of theatrical productions for private and public audiences.  

These productions, sometimes augmented by discussion sessions with a mental health professional, have drawn upon many source materials -- from the works of William Shakespeare to new original pieces such as "Voices of Depression" a book by Slaying Dragons Artistic Director Helene Meyer. The Independence Center is a community-based rehabilitation program for adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses in the St. Louis area, built on the Clubhouse model of psychosocial rehabilitation.
