Bankside Repertory Theatre Company launches with a comedy at Jacoby Arts Center

A new theatre company is making its home in Alton, Illinois.  Bankside Repertory Theatre Company, founded by six local professional actors and directors, will be launching its premiere production October 8, 9, and 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Jacoby Arts Center. The opening production this season is Call Me Waldo, a comedy by Rob Ackerman, directed by Trish Brown.

Call Me Waldo takes viewers into the world of Lee Fountain, played by Caleb King, an electrician who begins reading Ralph Waldo Emerson as an escape from his daily life. Much to the chagrin of his boss, his wife and her friend, Lee begins to actually embody Emerson at times of emotional stress. What unfolds is a funny, heart-warming story about four people’s quest to embrace a higher understanding of their life work through re-discovering themselves, all thanks to Mr. Emerson.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis and no reservations are required. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. Doors open at 7:00pm.

Bankside Repertory Theatre Company will continue its opening season with performances of A Dickins of a Tale by Geoff Callaway December 4, 5, 11, 12 and is scheduled to perform in February and April 2016. For more information, call (618) 462 5222 or visit www.jacobyartscenter.org.
