JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, The Rock Musical

Alfresco Productions Announces rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar

Written by the all-star creative team of Tim Rice (The Lion King) and Andrew Lloyd Webber (The Phantom of the Opera), Jesus Christ Superstar is the rock-inspired musical interpretation of the final days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth.  The show follows Christ from his meteoric rise in fame in first century Palestine through the infamous betrayal by his own friend and disciple.  It is perhaps no surprise that Superstar focuses on a social and political rebel, given that it was pioneered as a concept album in the turbulent 1960s.  Superstar was first staged on Broadway in 1971 and now Alfresco Productions resurrects this classic, charismatic tale of the last days of Christ, in a full-scale musical production.

Alfresco’s production stars  David Mendoza, lead singer from Cassanova Quartet and formerly of Sammy and the Snow Monkeys in the title role, with Paul Kruta, lead singer of the Rum Runners playing Judas and Sarah Dowling as Mary. The production features Dennis Mahlin as Pilate; Gary Grandidier as Caiaphas, Dan McGee as Annas, Jeffrey Bennett as Peter, Mark Lull as Herrod and Eric Reed as Simon.  Appearing as apostles, ensemble and priests are:  Bradley Rolf, Denny Patterson, Jacob Cowley, Ian Cowley, Jeff Frost, Bayden Allen; Aaron Williams; Steve Anderson; Gerry Palmer; Michelle Jacques; Julie Ybarra; Marta Scaturro; Athena Comer; Chrissy Watkins; Catherine Kruta; Keely Reed; Leslie Aerts; Ebony Easter; Melodie Chism; Johnna Patterson; LuAnn Trebing; John Mefford; Tom Scaturro; Braydon Basola; Caeden Barron; and Derek LeMaster
