Annual Community Festival Lincoln Place Heritage Festival Granite City, Illinois

Granite City's ethnic and immigrant history is celebrated during this festival. This event features the folk cultures of Armenia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Mexico, Russia, Romania, Croatia, and Scotland with continuous free ethnic entertainment, including dancers, musicians, and vocalists, and delicious ethnic foods and pastries for sale.  Inside the Lincoln Place Community Center, Lincoln Place oral history interviews will be on display, along with historical displays about Lincoln Place, a quilt display and ribbon quilting demonstration, and musical performances. An apple pie contest open to all will accept entries up to 1 pm with 1st prize being awarded at 3 pm.  The Children’s area includes free face painting, clowns, playground, magic show, and juggler.  Lincoln Place athletics will be highlighted in the Athletics Pavilion and a display of beautiful Eastern European costumes will be shown in the Costumes Pavilion. The Lincoln Place Heritage Association Sweet Memories General Store will have Men of Granite books for sale, as well as a variety of old fashioned candies and ethnic items.
