During the long nights of the winter solstice seems an appropriate time to honestly acknowledge the sorrow we sometimes feel. Amidst the joy of the Christmas season, the realities of loss and pain can be magnified. Yet you may feel you must hide your sorrow and doubt. But truth be told, the first advent—a time of preparation for an arrival—was all but peaceful, joyous, or easy.  The coming of Emmanuel—God with us—was, and is God’s presence in hard times. Jesus was born on “tax day to a young, unwed couple, that was out of town and didn’t have money, and in a cave, and was alone, and afraid in the middle of the night” (Pastor Louie Giglio).

The service will be led by Rev. Don Long Jr,, with Rev. Mike Rayson preaching from Job 38, and special music by Jason McAtee.  Childcare will be provided.
