1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped cooked ham OR cooked and crumbled bacon
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup chicken broth
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
In a saucepan, combine all ingredients. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until beans are tender.

This is a quick and easy way to dress up green beans. You may substitute 1 lb of frozen green beans or a can of green beans (14.5 oz) for the fresh green beans; drain canned beans before placing them in the saucepan.
