Zelma Wilson

Zelma Nellie Wilson, 93, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon.

Born Dec. 28, 1921 in Bear Grove, Ill., she was a daughter of Frank Robert and Nellie K. (Bingaman) Miller, who both preceded her in death.

She married Harold George Wilson Apr. 20, 1946 in Vandalia.  He passed away Oct. 13, 2005.

Zelma had worked for Shell Oil Co. as a clerk for 7 years, although her volunteer work kept her busy for many years.  She was a Girl Scout leader and was active in the River Bluffs Girl Scout Council and was a past district chairperson.  She was past president of the East Alton Women’s Club.  She was also an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton, active in the women’s group and serving as treasurer.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Jean and Michael King of Edwardsville; a grandson, Brett King; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and David Ullom of Talent, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Opal Wilson of Coulterville, Ill. and Ella Mae Wilson of Ballwin, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Willard Wilson of Eldorado, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at Paynic Home for Funerals.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton.  Pastor Randy Fisher will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
