Wilma C. Barth, 98, passed away at 11:43 pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
She was born on January 7, 1917 in Dorsey, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Christine (Branding) Emde.
She married Carl L. Barth on May 21, 1949 at Concordia Lutheran in Cottage Hills, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1984.
Wilma worked in the Fabrication and Brass Mill Store at Olin Corporation in East Alton for 40 years, until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, where she was a Stephen Minister, was involved in Ladies Aid and Bible studies. After moving to Glen Carbon she attended St. James Lutheran Church. Wilma always saw the good in people and was a good Christian.
Wilma is survived by a sister-in-law, Zella Emde; a brother-in-law, William “Buck” Barth and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who she loved like her own children. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, Wesley Emde, Edmond Emde, Alvin Emde, Walter Emde and Emil Emde and two sisters, Mildred Plegge and Katherine Johnson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Visitation will continue from 10:00 am until funeral service at 11:00 am Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastors Mark Hofferber and Pastor Kale Hanson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
