William “Moe Cat” Moore, Jr., 84 received eternal rest Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at his home with his family by his side.
Moe Cat, affectionately called, was born October 29, 1930 in Gould Arkansas to the union of the late William (Bill) Moore Sr. and Cynthia( Abraham) Moore.
William’s family moved to Alton, Illinois while he was very young. Mr. Moore received his education in the Alton Public School System.
He served in the armed forces (Army); he worked at Duncan Foundry until they closed down. He retired from construction after over thirty years of service. During the same period of time he became an entrepreneur, a businessman for more than thirty years with his younger brother, Clifton Moore and Frank Anderson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Clifton Moore, a sister-in-law Gertrude L. Moore, a niece Jaunja Kay Taylor, and a nephew Clifton Moore, Jr.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: a son, Dwight(Regina) Banks of Godfrey, IL; a daughter, Evelyn Oliver of Southfield, MI; a special nephew, Clifton E.( Marie) Moore, Sr. of Alton; 2 grandsons, Derrin Banks of Greenwood, IN., and Kristopher Banks of Indianapolis, IN; A great-granddaughter, Sydnee Banks of Greenwood, IN, 3 special nieces, Shymekia Rogers, LaShonda Moore, and Cynthia Moore of Alton, IL; 3 special great nephews, Howard Jackson ll, Claude Rogers, and Clifton E. Moore Jr. of Alton; A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will convene Saturday, October 3, from 9 until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Monroe Memorial Church. Interment will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery. Dr. Gregory L.
