William E. “Bill” Mason, age 83, of Godfrey, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1931, in Wood River, the son of Charles T. and Agnes (Golenor) Mason. Bill had worked at Owens Illinois Glass for 37 years. Bill was a member of the Alton Eagles Lodge and enjoyed playing baseball on the Owens IL Team. He loved the Cubs. His other interests included basketball, bowling, and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters the most.
Bill is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan Gage of Wood River, and Nancy and Steve Profer of Warrensburg, MO; longtime companion, Barbara Oates of Jerseyville; four grandchildren, Eric William and Heidi Jung, Thomas and Loren Gage, Sara Profer, and Jason Profer; two brothers, Charles Mason of Florissant, and Harold Mason of Fosterburg; a sister, Betty Hewitt of Alton; two great-grandchildren, Alexandria Grace Deppe and Tara Erica Jung; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Nowlin and Virginia Edison; two dear sister-in-laws and two dear brother-in-laws.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Rev. Jim Mason officiating.
Burial will take place in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
