Virginia Melow

Virginia L. Melow, 84, passed away at 6:20 pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.She was born on May 11, 1931, in Edwardsville, IL, the daughter of Oscar and Mary (Dunning) Davis.Virginia was an employee of Winchester Division for 25 years.She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville. She enjoyed making quilts, raising her family, reading the bible, and working in the garden.She is survived by three sons, William Davis of Worden, IL, Robert Davis of Staunton , IL, Wesley Freezeland, Jr. of Worden, IL; one step son, John Freezeland of Dorchester, IL; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; seven siblings, Alice Jackson of St. Louis, MO, Betty Hoeffner of Edwardsville, Esther Dickerson of Edwardsville, Dorothy McDonald of Alexander, NC, Judy Vitali of South Roxana, Mary McGee of Highland, and Paul Davis of Chicago.  Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Betty Brown; two sons, Ralph Davis and Patrick Davis; and one step son Jeff Freezeland.Cremation rites have been accorded.A memorial service will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 beginning at 4 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville with Pastor Jared DeBlieck, officiating.A private inurnment will be at a later date.Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville.Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
