Veronica Opal McDonald Hamlyn, 34, died at 4:00 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born December 23, 1980 in Alton, she was the daughter of Ken and Carolyn (Brunaugh) McDonald of Palmyra. She was a member of the honor society at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. On December 14, 2012 she married Stewart Hamlyn in Alton. Along with her parents and husband, she is survived by 11 brothers and sisters, Kenneth McDonald Jr., Michael McDonald (Marie), Rosemary Farr (John), Pamela Byington (Glenn), Sandra Moesch (Rick), Sharon Warren (Joseph), Brenda McDonnell (Paul), Cherie Helmkamp (Roy), Patrick McDonald (Laura), Chaun Mikuleza (Jacqueline), and Kelly Ostrowski (Kevin), one brother-in-law, Richard Hamlyn, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved with all her heart. She was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Mudd. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
