Truman F. Harvill, 79, passed away at 11:21 pm Sunday, September 14, 2014 at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA, with his children by his side.
He was born on March 7, 1935 in Wood River, IL, the son of William P. and Ella R. (Sanders) Harvill.
He married Viola D. (Jatcko) Harvill on February 20, 1960 in Wood River. She passed away on December 15, 2004.
Truman served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a furnace operator at Laclede Steel for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto.
He is survived and loved by, a daughter, Dee Harvill of Baton Rouge, LA, a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Shannon Harvill of Novi, MI and four grandchildren, Aidan, Alana, Cailin and Rian; his sister and brother-in-law, Arleen and Walter Hesterberg of Bethalto; numerous nieces and nephews, and his very special friend, Jenny Bassler of Alton.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday, September 19, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Fund, 625 Church Drive, Bethalto, IL 62010.
