Troy Brainerd

Troy Lee Brainerd, 48, of Jerseyville, died at 11:43 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at St.Louis University Hospital after a long period of declining health. He was born in Jerseyville on Nov. 17, 1966, the youngest of  nine children born to the late Charles & Blanche Ellen (Greenwalt) Brainerd.He graduated in 1985 from Jersey Community High School, and yardwork, RC cars, four wheeling and basically anything that had a motor.He married the former Catherine L. Klocke on Feb. 20, 1988 at the United Methodist Church in Grafton, and she survives.Also surviving are two sons, Troy Brainerd and Brian Brainerd both of Jerseyville; a grandson, Owen Bentley Brainerd; a sister, Linda Milton of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers & sisters in law, Michael & Kay Brainerd of Sullivan and Chuck & Charlotte Brainerd of Grafton; his mother in law, Mary Wheeler of Carrollton; his father in law and his wife, Kenneth & Carol Klocke of Hartford; a great aunt, Carol Walther of Grafton; and his loyal canine companion, Daisy; along with numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Richard, David, Ronald, Alan and Jeffrey Brainerd.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Dow Southern Baptist Church with Rev. David Brown officiating.Cremation will take place after services.Memorials may be given to his family in care of the funeral home.
