Toni Pauline Fry-Hilgert, 46, of Alton passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She was born January 1, 1970 in Alton to Gordon and Cary (Sinks) Fry. She married Mark Hilgert, June 17, 2000. Toni was employed by the Alton School District and currently worked at West Elementary as a 1st grade teacher. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Toni was active in the Alton Little Theater, PEO, MOMMES and was a Widji Woman with the Girl Scouts and was a Girl Scout Leader. She spent countless hours working with the Drama Department at Alton High School and East Alton Wood River High School. Toni touched people’s lives with her contagious smile and shaped the minds and hearts of many children.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Hilgert of Alton; her triplets, Benjamin, Jonah and Mollie Hilgert of Alton; mother, Cary Fry of Wood River; three sisters, Roxanna (Chuck) Johnson of Wood River, Shone Fry (Judy Bauer) of Springfield, IL and Kim Fry (Chuck Oary) of Red Bud, IL; brother, Tracy (Kamie) Fry of Eldon, MO; mother in law, Alice Jean Hilgert of Jerseyville; brothers in law, Paul (Carla) Hilgert of Alton and John Hilgert of Alton; sister in law, Laura (Todd) Burton of Grafton; sixteen nieces and nephews and twelve great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Fry.
Visitation will be 3-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Paynic Home for Funerals. A time of remembrance and a celebration of her life will be held at 7:30 on Tuesday following visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Father John Luong as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or East Alton Wood River High School in care of the Foundation for Toni P. Fry Scholarship for Drama.
