Terry “T” G. Sumner, 72, passed away at 2:53 am, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born Hartford, IL on August 11, 1940, the son of the late Charles Homer and Mabel G. (Guhy) Sumner.
Terry worked in construction for the State of Illinois for over 20 years and then worked in sales for 7 Up and Dr. Pepper for over 20 years, retiring in 2012. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Browns and Kentucky Wildcats. Terry also enjoyed golfing and horse racing.
He is survived one daughter, Terri (Greg) Sauerwein of Bunker Hill; three sons, Eric Sumner of Alton, Steve (Nicki) Sumner of Godfrey, and Willie (Dianna) Sumner of Alton; three brothers, Don Sumner of Hilton Head, SC., Jim (Cindy) Sumner of Charleston, SC., and John (Charlotte) Sumner of Rosewood Heights, IL.; along with three grandchildren, Cody Sauerwein, Kiley Sumner, and Jack Sumner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Sumner.
Memorial visitation will be from 2 pm until time of service at 5pm on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL with Pastor Charles West officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
