Dateline: Wood RiverTaka “Linda” (Okamoto) Howarth, 86, passed away at 3:05 pm Thursday, December 3, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. She was born March 12, 1929 in Japan, the daughter of Bangiro and Tei (Ishki) Okamoto. She married Daniel E. Howarth on December 22, 1952 in Japan at the American Embassy.  He survives. Linda had a house cleaning business and was an assistant in a dental office.  She also decorated many wedding cakes for weddings in the area. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, needlework, helping others and most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.  She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, David (Anna) Howarth of Placitas, NM, Diana (David Palmer) Howarth of St. Charles, MO, Timothy (Patty) Howarth of Bunker Hill and Terence Howarth of Wood River and four grandchildren, Tara Howarth, Kelly Snider, Dana Howarth and Michael Baranowski.   She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial visitation will be 10:00 am until services at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Chapel in Bethalto with Father James Flach officiating.Memorials may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church, BJC Hospice or the American Cancer Society.Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences and guestbook may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
