Shirley A. Thomas

Shirley A. Thomas, 78, passed away at 9:45pm on Saturday February 2, 2013, at VIP Manor.

She was born on August 6, 1934 in Kampsville, IL, to the late Bryan and Veda (Nevius) Cress.

On November 3, 1979 she married Jimmy Thomas in East Alton. He preceded her death in 1984.

Shirley enjoyed camping, traveling and embroidery and was a long time member of Bible Baptist Church in Cottage Hills.

She is survived by two daughters, Pam and Monty Stubblefield, of Brighton, and Catherine Cagle of Alton; three granddaughters and their spouses, Kimberly and Gabriel Curran, Chrissy Cagle, and Becky Strauss six grandsons and their spouses, Gordon and Nicole McRae, Jared and Nicole McRae, Justin Bosomworth, Matthew Bosomworth, Jeremy and Lindsay Cagle, and Johnathan Cagle; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Cress and two sisters, Garnell Dirksmeyer and Lela Kelly.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by Milo Cress, Ernie Cress, Eddie Joe Cress and Jimmy Cress and three sisters, Corey Howland, Ermalee Walton and Wanda Schenato.

In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be from 10:00 am until services at 12 noon on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
