Shirley A. Darr, 73, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Provisions Living Center in Godfrey.
Born Sept. 21, 1939 in Centralia, Ill., she was the daughter of Samuel Harrison and Marie (Kuester) Roberts.
She married Donald L. Darr Sept. 16, 1961 in Wood River. He preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2007.
Shirley worked as a clerk in the marketing department of Illinois Bell / AT&T for over 30 years, retiring in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel Gordon (Lisa) Darr of Holiday Shores, and Nicholas Tyler (Sheila) Darr of East Alton. She loved to spoil her four grandchildren, Trenton Tyler, Madeline Marie, Caden Lucas, and Emma Grace Darr. She is also survived by a sister, Jane Baggett of Owensboro, Ky. and her children, Stacy (Mark) Hatfield of Owensboro and Ryan (Missy) Baggett of Berea, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Henderson and a brother-in-law, Lee Bernt, both of Alton; a special friend, Sharon Henderson; and other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a nephew, Ricky Baggett; and three beloved aunts, Jackie Keister, Linda Kuester, and Florence Schilling.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 18.
She will be laid to rest at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Community Hope Center.
