Shelby Cox

Shelby Cox, 72, died at 6:38 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at her home. Born October 15, 1940 in Fisk, MO, she was the daughter of Raymond and Orena (Tyree) Roberts. Shelby worked for several years as a bus driver for the Alton Community School District and MCT. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her friends. Shelby is survived by two sons, Gary Steven Basden of Wood River and Silas Cox and his wife Melissa Grob Cox of Hartford, one granddaughter, Brittany Baker of Godfrey, one grandson, Wyatt Cox of Hartford, three brothers, James “Jim” Roberts of Fisk, MO, Ira Roberts of Fisk, MO, and Ben Roberts of Herod, IL, four sisters, Joanna Davis of Fisk, MO, Earlene Garner of Fisk, MO, Fay Rains of Perry, OK, and Sherry Cooper of Bernie, MO, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013. Reverend Carl Cook will officiate.
