Ruth D. Kelly, 82, passed away at 3:20 am Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing home in Jerseyville, IL.
She was born on September 11, 1932 in Portageville, MO, daughter of the late Wm. T. & Fern (Hausner) Johnson. She was the oldest of 6 children.
Ruth married John “Jack” W. Kelly on February 12, 1970. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2013.
She was employed at Wardein Pharmacy for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. She enjoyed crafts, painting, her pug dogs, bowling, socializing and spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She was the best mother, mother-in-law and grandmother ever.
She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Rodney Oglesby of Bolivar, MO and Robert & Robyn Oglesby of Parker, CO; a daughter and her spouse, Shannon & Rick Stilwell of Brighton, IL; four granddaughters and their spouses, Rachel & David Sissel, Kasey Oglesby, Kari Oglesby and Katie & Ken Soldink; one grandson, Alex Stilwell; five great grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua, Benjamin, Emma and Samantha Sissel and a daughter-in-law, Donna Oglesby of Bolivar, MO.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Rex Oglesby.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm, on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, on Monday, November 10, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton Fr. John Wykes, OMV as celebrant.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and or the Alzheimer Association.
