Royce A. Weigel, 55, died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at his home. Born September 28, 1957 in Alton, he was the son of Donald Calame of Godfrey and the late Wilma (Weigel) Calame. He retired from Alton Steel Company. Mr. Weigel was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, gardening and motorcycle riding. He was an overall handyman and a wonderful husband and brother. On April 11, 1980 he married the former Sherry Emmons in Alton. She survives. Also surviving is a brother, Edward Calame (Jennifer) of Edwardsville, two sisters, Shelly Steward (Otis) of Wood River, and Nancy Netzhammer (Bill) of Alton, nine brothers-in-law; Jack Emmons (Annessa), Dave Emmons (JoAnn), Danny Emmons, Mickey Emmons (Jill), Dennis Emmons, Terry Emmons, Jay Emmons, Jan Emmons (Connie), and Brian Emmons all of the Alton/Godfrey area, and his mother-in-law, Stella Emmons of Godfrey. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Leroy Emmons, and his sister-in-law, Peggy Emmons. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013. Reverend George Wooden will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the 5A’s Animal Shelter.
