Ronald Meintzer

Ronald E. Meintzer, 66, passed away 12:02 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his residence.

Born in St. Louis on December 15, 1948, he was the son of Earl Wild and Frances Swarringin.

A U.S. army veteran, he worked in the Rod Mill Division and was a crane operator for Laclede Steel in Alton for 25 years before the plant closed.

Ron enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting mushrooms.

On November 29, 1968 at the Vaughn Hill Church of Christ in Rosewood Hieghts, he married the former Sandra Smith.  She survives.

Surviving also are two sons, James and John Meintzer; three grandchildren, Mathew, Ethan and Ashley Meintzer; and two brothers, Timothy Killebrew and Richard Grimes.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Ron and Jeremey Meintzer, in-laws, James and Dorothy Smith; brother-in-law, James Smith; sister-in-law, Cheryl Smith.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.  Don Masters will officiate.

Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
