Robert Neal Brown, 78, of East Alton, IL passed away September 23, 2015 surrounded by his
loved ones.
Born on Sept.20, 1937, in Alton, IL, he was the son of the late Curtis and Harriet (Green) Brown.
He married Carolyn Faye (Steelman) in 1957, she survives. Also surviving are their 5 children, Robert and Gina Brown of East Alton, James and Kelli Brown of Bethalto, Kathleen and Greg Crews of Bethalto, Jack and LaDonna Brown of Roxana, and Charles and Sarah Brown of Roxana; 11 grandchildren, Bobbie Schlemer, Brandie Brown, Joshua Brown, Jordan Brown,
Chris Brown, Tanner Brown, Jessica Springer, Jake Crews, Justin Brown, Gage Brown, and Eli Brown; 7 great grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Brown and his wife Mary Lou of Urbana,
MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Eileen Winteroad, and Anita Sunderland; and 2 grandchildren, Zachary Crews and Ashley Brown.
After graduating from Roxana High School, Bob married his sweetheart Carolyn (Steelman) and served in the Navy for 4 years. He worked at McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing for 41 years, retiring in February of 2000.
Bob always had a joke and a smile to share. He enjoyed gardening, and going to the farm with his kids. He volunteered his time and skills to those he could help after retirement. He was a
wonderful husband and father. He loved his family dearly, and enjoyed spending time with them and giving a weekly call with, “Tell everyone hello and I love em!”. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 27 from 1-4 p.m. at Paynic Home for Funerals in East Alton, where funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m.
Memorials may be given to Riverbend Ministries in Wood River.
