Private funeral services were conducted Wednesday, March 26 for Robert Lee Shelton, 82, who passed away at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at his residence.Born on November 25, 1931 in Alton, he was the son of Robert Luther and Goldie Louise (Forest) Shelton.A Korean War army veteran, he worked as a welder for the Olin Corporation before retiring.On October 21, 1955 in Alton, he married the former Frances Roberta Vantrease. She died November 8, 2000.He is survived by two sons, Robert Lee Shelton, II and Craig Allen; two daughters, Dawn (Bruce) Lemons and Sheri (Dave) sullivan; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild; a brother, William Shelton; and four sisters-in-law, Roberta Gannon, Shirley Woodridge, Linda Berkel and Gayle Davis.Burial was in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Marks Mortuary in Wood River was in charge of arrangements.
