ROBERT WATSON

JERSEYVILLE-  Robert Laverne Watson, 90, formerly of Grafton, passed peacefully into the arms of God at 2:47 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.He was born on Oct. 20, 1924 in Grafton, and was the son of the late Elmer E. & Clara Alice (Larbey) Watson.He attended and graduated from Grafton schools, and at the age of 17, enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during World War II.He married the love of his life, the former Marjorie Davis on March 2, 1946 in Jerseyville, and the two spent over 30 years vacationing on Lake Okeechobee in Florida, and were blessed with nearly 66 years of marriage before her death on Feb. 23, 2012.He was employed out the Alton Laborers Local #218 for many years, and also assisted his wife in the operation of the Don-Ron Trailer Court.Surviving are a daughter, Donna Box of Grafton; a son & daughter in law, Ron & Vickie Watson of Godfrey; a brother & sister in law, Milton & Ida Watson of Grafton; his grandchildren & their spouses, Jim & Christine Box, Rob Box, Heather & Gary Pinter, Josh & Bailey Watson, and Jacob Watson; his great grandchildren, Matthew Box, Nylah Rose Box, and another precious great grandson due in August; along with a very special cousin, Gene Niemeyer of Jerseyville.In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Daniel Watson.He will be laid to rest alongside his wife in a private graveside ceremony at the Hartford Cemetery near Grafton.Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements.
