Robert Clayton Higdon, 77, passed away 11:55 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton.
Born on June 27, 1937 in Valley City, IL, he was the son of Robert Clayton and Dolly (Holland) Higdon.
A World War II army veteran, he had been a machinist for the Olin Corporation for 44 years before retiring in 1999.
In June of 1979 in Wood River, he married the former JoAnn Hoffberg.
Surviving are two sons, Marty Higdon and Billy Higdon of Wood River; daughter, Pam Schardan of Wood River; step-son, Aaron Wells of St. Louis; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and four sisters, Shirley Higdon of Indiana, Mary Scharth of Alton, Donna Hull of Rosewood Heights and Joyce Rother of Arcadia Valley, MO.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Ronnie Higdon; step-son, Adam Wells; and brother, Fred Higdon.
Visitation will be from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Private Graveside and Burial services will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
