Robert Jarnagin

Robert C. Jarnagin, 88, went to be with his Lord at 1:34 pm, Thursday March 12, 2015 at his home.

He was born in Clarksville, Arkansas on November 11, 1926.  The son of the late James Robert & Mary (Compton) Jarnagin.

He married Ruby J. (Goff), on May 18, 1956 in Bethalto. She survives. 

Robert served in the United Sates Army during WWII in Japan. He was owner/operator of Jarnagin Grocery Store and Angel Cream Donut Shop, both in Bethalto.  He enjoyed spending his time fishing, going to Auctions, being outdoors gardening, working on lawnmowers and going to Golden Corral in Alton with his family.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters and their spouses, Mary & David Null, Doris & Ron Seaton, Benita & Howard Hawk, and Vickie Jarnagin, four grandchildren, Sommer Walker, Josh Hawk, Samantha Jarnagin and Ronnie Null, eight great grandchildren, Shelby, Devin, Emma, Anden, Kale, Aubree, Mya and Maddie and several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son James Edward Jarnagin and his siblings, Jimmy, Sammy, Billie, Dolan, David and Becky.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Gospel Tabernacle in Godfrey.

Funeral service will be at 11 am on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Church.

Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery South Roxana, IL.  Military rites will be performed by the Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be directed to Gospel Tabernacle.

Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto will be in charge of arrangements.
