Richard Drake

Richard Lee Drake, 56, died at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Willow Rose Rehab & Health Care in Jerseyville.Rick was born in Hillsboro, IL. on  June 2, 1959, the son of Floyd Lee & Mary Imogene (Brooks) Drake Sr.He attended Jerseyville schools, and was employed with American Commercial Barge Lines and Valstad Quarries in Fieldon until 1980 when he suffered debilitating injuries from a motorcycle accident, and then a car accident later that year.Surviving are his parents, Floyd & Loretta (Daniels) Drake of Jerseyville; a daughter, Julie Ann Drake of Eldred; three grandchildren, Jade, Bryan & Cheyanne; a sister, Wilma Herter of Houston, Tx.; and two brothers, Floyd "PeeWee" Drake of Jerseyville, and John Henry Drake of Alton; along with four four nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Drake.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday.  Richard Maxam will officiate.He will be laid to rest beside his mother at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to his family to assist in the placement of a monument at his gravesite in care of the funeral home.
