Richard L. “Dick” Johnson, 84, died at 5:56 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Hammond, Indiana the son of the late Leo V. and Nancy Marie (Austin) Johnson. He was a U. S. Navy Korean War Veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. On December 20, 1952 in Alton he married Sue Helton and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Gretchen Harmon (Matt) of Alton and two sons, Kevin Johnson of Alton and Drew Johnson (Teresa) of Alton, five grandchildren, Alicia Gillean (David) of Godfrey, Ben Johnson of Alton, Rachel Fergurson (Elliott) of Alton, Anna Wanger (Nathan) of Alton and Abby Harmon of Alton, seven great grandchildren and one brother, Lyndel Johnson of Kentucky. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3rd at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton with Reverend Andre’ Dobson to officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery with full military Honors. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Alton.
