Richard “Dick” M. Hardesty, Sr

Richard “Dick” M. Hardesty, Sr. 72, passed away at 1:37 pm Monday, January 13, 2014 at his home.

 

He was born on February 11, 1941 in Wood River, IL to Walter M. and Dorothy (Lattimore) Hardesty.

He married Janis R. Maronie on July 12, 1986 in Rosewood Heights.  She survives. 

Dick was an adjuster at Olin Corporation for 43 years, retiring in 2003.  He was a member of the East Alton American Legion and the Alton Moose.  He was an avid duck hunter and fisherman.  He was a Nascar and Dale Earnhart fan.  He enjoyed racing stock cars, Cardinals baseball and was a history buff on Wood River and the neighboring communities. 

In addition to his wife and his mother of Bethalto, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Dick Hardesty Jr., Darrell and Peggy Hardesty, Dena Lewis and Andy Main and Stacey and Paul Everett; a stepson, Mike Hosfeld; eleven grandchildren, Ketra, Brianna (Nick), Kanbron (Tiffany), Keeton (Heather), JayCee, Janelle, A.J., Dustin (Ashley), Devin, Derrick and Danielle; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Terry Hardesty and four nieces. 

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Sherrian Hardesty. 

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 pm Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, where funeral services will be at 1 pm Monday, January 20, 2014.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the family.
