Rebecca 'Becky' Killebrew, 94, passed away 1:42 a.m. Saturday May 31, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center of Alton.Born on August 11, 1919 in Clinton, KY, she was the daughter of Calvin Bowers and Vera (Bone) Wheeler.She had worked as a balistics clerk for Olin 42 years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Westerner Club.She married Wayne Byassee who preceded her in death on Auust 20, 1957. On March 23, 1962 in Bethalto, she married Carl R. Killebrew, who survives.Surviving also are three step-daughters, Katie Hancock of Aneheim, CA, Judy Beatty of Edwardsville, Jeannie (Tom) Hall of Ft. Worth, TX; four step-grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma inman of Bethalto.She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; and two brothers, James William and Robert Wheeler.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Bill Pyatt will officiate.Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Memorials may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church in East Alton where she had been a member.
