Raymond Wilmer Botterbush, 62, died at 8:35 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at Camp Bunn in Hettick, IL. He was born December, 16, 1951 in Alton, the son of Wilmer J. and Dorothy (Armes) Botterbush. He retired in 2012 from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department after 38 years of service. He was active in many clubs and organizations including the Lewis & Clark Radio Club, Alton/Godfrey Rotary Club, Salvation Army, Boy Scout troop 7, Madison County Emergency Management, a severe weather spotter for the National Weather Service and an avid St Louis Cardinals fan. Ray was also an Eagle Scout and a Silver Beaver Award recipient. He is survived by two Brothers; Tim (Karen) Botterbush of Godfrey and Kevin (Julie) Botterbush of Godfrey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews that he loved; Jake (Elizabeth) Botterbush of Hardin and their daughter Libby, Zach Botterbush, Kathleen Botterbush, Jonathan Botterbush, and K.J. Botterbush. He played a very active role in Kathleen, Jonathan, and KJ’s life doing so much as attending school activities, taking them to Cardinal’s games, golfing, shooting and anything Boy Scout related. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday June 18, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home where services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday June 19, 2014 with Pastor David Crowley to Officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America troop Camp Warren Levis or the NICU at St. John’s Mercy.
