Raymond Anthony Thomeczek, 75, passed away Tuesday night, June 17, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born in Richmond Heights, MO on March 3, 1939, the son of the late Roman and Anne (Cassler) Thomeczek.
He married Virginia “Ginger” Bauser on November 25, 1970 in Chicago, IL. She survives.
Raymond worked as a Tribologist for Thomeczek Oil Company, then Piasa Motor Fuels until he retired in 2004. He graduated from Marquette Catholic High School then SIU Carbondale with a Master’s Degree. He later served in the U.S. Army. Raymond was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion Post 126, Alton Motor Boat Club, and Alton Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger; six children, Angela (Thomeczek) and her spouse Brian Christ of Mount Vernon, IL, Anthony “Tony” and his spouse Brianne Thomeczek of Alton, Katherine (Woodman) Furlong of Florissant, MO, William “Bill” Woodman of Goleta, CA, Connie (Woodman) and her spouse Jim Anderson of St. Charles, MO, Jeanette (Woodman) Parmenter of Alton; two sisters, Jean Hauck of Grafton and Barbara Kimball of Germantown, TN; one brother, Harold and his wife Judy Thomeczek of Godfrey; along with eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Alton with Father Steve Pohlman officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School, St. Ambrose Education Endowment or American Cancer Society.
