Randall Leslie Smith, 54, died at 5:24 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born at St. Josephs Hospital in Alton on April 24, 1960 and was the son of Leslie Charles & Rosemary (Beiermann) Smith.
Randy grew up in Jerseyville, and was a member of the Class of 1979 at Jersey Community High School. He was employed in retail for the majority of his adult life, previously working at the former Venture in Alton, Deals, K-Mart in Florissant, Mo. for 13 years, and currently was employed at Dollar General in Jerseyville.
He was a gifted baseball player in his younger years, and enjoyed participating in various bowling leagues throughout the years, and had achieved a perfect 300 game.
Surviving are his mother & step father, Rosemary & James Crowe Sr.of Jerseyville; a sister & brother in law, Jackie & Mike Hertweck of Ormond Beach, Fl.; a step sister, Lori Crow, and her fiance' Doug Smith of Jerseyville; a step brother, James Crowe Jr. of Grafton; two nieces, Leslie Hertweck and Jamie Robinson; and his step mother, Delores Smith and her family of Liverpool, New York.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Smith; a sister, Sherry (Smith) Karrick; a step brother, Mark Crowe; and a step sister in law, Lori Crowe.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, from 4 p.m., until time of prayers conducted by Father William Hembrow at 7 p.m.
Cremation will take place.
Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville.
