Phillip Lee Cory Jr., 46, of Wood River, IL, formerly of Granite City, IL, died Wed. Aug. 19, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born June 26, 1969 in Granite City, IL to the late Nancy Karen (Avants) Hostmeyer and Phillip Lee Cory Sr.
On Sept. 20, 2008, he and Illah Michelle Clemons were married in Edwardsville, IL. She survives in Wood River.
Phillip was a Safety Reviewer for Madison County Transit since 2008. He was a fun loving Christian man who loved the Lord and his family and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was known for his quick wit. He was also a sportsman and NRA member and liked being outdoors, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: 5 children, Jonathon Cory of Granite City, Sierra Cory, Abigail Cory, Timothy Clemons and Wyatt Cory of Wood River, 6 siblings, Nova (Fred) Holder of IL, Randy (Karen) Cory of Granite City, Brooke Hostmeyer of O’Fallon, IL, Kelly Richardson of Mascoutah, IL, Adrianne Nuckolls of MO and Rebecca (Mike) Sullivan of Granite City and his step-mother, Rose King also of Granite City.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Dennis Hostmeyer.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sun. Aug. 23, 2015 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Mon. Aug. 24, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton with Rev. Andre Dobson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for the benefit of his children.
