Peat M. Dickerson, Sr., 74, passed away at 5:55 am on Thursday, January, 7, 2016, at Eunice Smith Home, with his family by his side.

He was born on December 1, 1941, in Alton, the son of Peat Kelly Dickerson and Maxine Erma Bauser.

Peat had worked for Laclede Steel as a brick layer for 32 years.

Peat loved cars and restoring old hot rods. He was a Deacon at Lifehouse Community Church. Peat was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 406 in Bethalto, FBI (Fat Boys of Illinois) Car Club, and the National Hot Rod Association. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his ex-wife Phyllis Jean Dickerson; four children John Dickerson of Alton, Peat Dickerson, Cheryl Bagley and her husband Aaron Bagley of Fosterburg, and Jason Bertoglio of Brighton; six grandchildren Emme Dickerson, Amanda Dickerson, Jonathon Dickerson, Amy Bagley, Ariah Bagley and Alexis Bagley; one great granddaughter Jaydin Murphy; three sisters Peggy Stomske of Alton, Patty Dickerson of Alton, and Connie Dickerson of Alton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016, beginning at 11:00 am at Lifehouse Community Church in Alton. 

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
