Paul Hamilton

Paul E. Hamilton, 73, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

 

He was born February 3, 1938 in Pana, IL.  His adopted parents were Lester & Juanita (Anderson) Summers.

He married Mary Green on September 24, 1960 in Godfrey, IL.  She survives.

He served in the Air Force and then retired from Olin Corporation after 20 years. 

He was a former member of the East Alton American Legion Post 794 and a current member of the Moose Lodge. Paul was an avid hobby train collector.  He liked drinking Jack Daniels, camping, hunting, riding motorcycles and C.B. Radios.  His handle was “Kitty Kat.”

He also loved his grandkids and great grandkids and will be missed by his wife, Mary Hamilton of Jerseyville; seven children and spouses, Randy & Pam Hamilton of Highland, Phil “Joe” Hamilton of Jerseyville, Scott & Jill Hamilton of Bethalto, Terri Frazier & Alan Mize of Bunker Hill, Pam & Casey Jones of Jerseyville, Jeff Hamilton of Godfrey, and Teri “Ollie” Minder of Rosewood Heights; twelve grandchildren and spouses, Kevin & Michelle Hamilton, Michael & Ashley Hamilton, Jennifer & JW Whitaker, Jason Arnold, Sarah Hamilton, Joey Frazier, Andy Frazier, Samantha “Aka - Woman” Frazier, Shawna Mize, Kassie Jones, Jeffrey Hamilton Jr., and Ashleigh Green; seven great grandchildren, Julia, Abi, Skyler, Jacob, Jalynn, JoJo, and Jazzy; one sister, Betty Lane of Taylorville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Hamilton, grandson, Austin Minder, great grandson, Dominic Whitaker, son-in-law, Bill Frazier, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Phil & Alvena Green.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey where funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, November 10, 2011.

Full military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by Alton VFW Post 1308.

Burial will be private.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
